I'd love to hear if you find this feed useful, and how you're using it - it's a pleasure to run it. Feel free to toss a quick note to RockCountyScanner@protonmail.com if you feel so inclined. Thanks!
CTAF/UNICOM air traffic for Luverne Municipal Airport (KLYV). Feed is provided by an ARM cpu, a USB SDR, and a J-Pole antenna tuned to center on 122.7 attached via LMR-400. Internet connectivity is provided by a fiber connection to SDN.
Note: Airspace in this area is pretty quiet - hours lacking air traffic is common. Squelch is algorithmic, constantly estimating the noise floor level in each channel and opening when the signal level exceeds the noise level estimate by a factor of 3. Apologies if this is inconsistent with weak signals, but it's proved reasonably reliable in testing.
This feed includes:
121.5 MHz (Aircraft Emergency Frequency, aka GUARD)
Given the nature of UNICOM usage, other airport traffic may also be heard. Nearby airports are:
Rock Rapids Municipal Airport (KRRQ)
Worthington Municipal Airport (KOTG)
KLYV is also home to Skydive Adventures, a private skydiving company.
