Temple City Station - Dispatch 11

Temple City Station - Dispatch 11 (482.9875) via SDR++, discone, open air above house, located approx 1.5 miles away from station on a repurposed Surface Pro 3 running Ubuntu 22.

------------------

11.04.24 "Does the channel even work?" Yes. Pull an archive. Plenty of activity. I just pulled the most recent one and there were a couple of calls.

02.20.23 Aaaaand they're back. Roll call ~06:30.

02.17.23 14:30 Annoucement to Temple units to "switch to METRO" for Roll call. Sounded like it was until Monday. This is trunked LA-RICS.

10.22.22 Upgrated to new Nooelect NESDR, rated for 24/7 use. Previous was experiecing thermal issues.

08.11.22 Will look into no audio report, but probably not until this weekend.

07.08.22 Restart of darkice. 07:51

01.18.22 Restart of CubicSDR 20:40

11.25.21 Report of Unintelligible feed. Restarted Darkice and CubicSDR, hopefully that solves it. 20.41

11.05.21 Bogus report of no audio. Just turned off the squelch and verified audio. 12:47

10.30.21 Bogus report of no audio. Just turned off the squelch and verified audio. 09:21

09.19.21 Bogus report of no audio. Just turned off the squelch and verified audio. 11:40

09.12.21 Bogus report of no audio. Just turned off the squelch and verified audio. 11:00

07.25.21 Bogus report of no audio. Just turned off the squelch and verified audio. 11:13

03.25.21 Bogus report of no audio. Just turned off the squelch and verified audio. 15:24

               Real radio traffic at 15:26

02.25.21 Bogus report of no audio. Just turned off the squelch and verified audio. 20:41
Lots of traffic 10 mins later. 20:49-20:52

11.18.20 Post audio9 migration, squelch/static check OK 08:09 PST (even though feed indicator reported 'Offline')

10.23.20 Turned down squelch - static came through. 14:15 PST

10.13.20 Yet another reports of no audio. Just turned off the squelch and verified audio. 16:50 PST

9.15.20 Again with the reports of no audio. Just turned off the squelch and verified audio, also legit traffic ~4:10p PST.

7.31.20 Looks like we're back to 482.9875

7.30.20 I'm also hearing what sounds like dispatch on "Mutual Aid 4 - SGV" (484.1375)

7.29.20 It appears that C-TAC1 (482.8125) might be getting used for Temple Dispatch. This would explain the reports of no audio.
I'm not going to re-tune, as that would be a violation of the TOS.

7.28.20 Reports of no audio. Restarted app/reconnected, turned down squelch and verified static via BCFY.

6.2/3.20 Complaints of audio quality. Reviewed archives - sounded ok to me.

10.18.19 Reseated SDR. Verified audio on Broadcastify.

10.18.19 Received report of no audio - verified nothing in the archives. Will address tonight.

3.18.19 Changed to CubicSDR handling the tuning/decode. Huge difference in quality as I've been able remove all the sox stuff.

5.14.18 Report of unintelligible Aero comms. Not much I can do about that as I'm broadcasting the dispatch channel. Aero usually sounds pretty good on L-TAC but I haven't heard them on dispatch.

4.28.18 Got RTL using Darkice, so padding not an issue. Expect a couple of stops & restarts for me to get sound dialed in.

4.26.18 RTL not padding zero. Reverted to posted configuration. Modified darkice.cfg to get rid of the hum.

4.26.18 Switched to RTL source. Waiting to get some good traffic to verify.

4.25.18 Feed is currently really unusable due to hum. I don't get the hum when I do an RTL stick on my linux box, so need to work out how to actually feed that audio (and have squelch work). Will update when resolved.

6.29.17 Compared to a Pro-34 I usually have tuned in to the TAC frequency. Dispatch is low on the Pro-34 too, but TAC sounds fine. I'm not sure what it is about the Dispatch freq and my set up, but the low volume seems consistent. I'll check with one of my RTL sticks to see if it's there as well.

6.28.17 Low volume compare to actual scanner. Thanks CAP_Chris for the report. I turned up the volume on it. I'll listen to the archives tomorrow and see if it's any better.

12.26.16 SD Card got corrupted. Installed the Broadcastify image and reconfigured. So far it actually sounds better than it used to.

Ok - so removing the PAC SNI-1/3.5 filter killed the chinese radio, but my 60Hz hum is back (it was never really gone). Gonna see if I can get a filtering adapter on my AC.

11.21.16 "Why dose it keep stoping" I think this is a little over-reaction. It did stop at the time of report and my broadcast PI's log shows it restarted shortly after, but there was no activity on the channel at the time.

4.18.16: (no audio, but online): Verified @ 4:08p PST. Heard busy tone and dispatch advising a Code 4. Sounded a little weak, but there was definitely audio. This isn't one of the busier LASD channels.

8.16.15: Added ground loop isolator to see if that helps.

Report: 8.8.15 (no audio, just hum): Reviewed the archives. Hum is present, but there's plenty of audio. This is one of the less busy dispatch channels of LASD.

Users that don't accept PMs but report "Unintelligible Feed": Reviewed archives from today (6/21) and dispatch is intelligible. Not sure what you're hearing.

09.12.21 Bogus report of no audio. Just turned off the squelch and verified audio. 11:00
