Arkansas SKYWARN has continuously routed severe weather information to and from the National Weather Service Little Rock Forecast Office for more than 50 years. Listen as certified Amateur (Ham) Radio storm spotters report from all over the State of Arkansas directly to the National Weather Service. This feed is sourced from the Arkansas SKYWARN flagship network W5DI, which provides the operating station at the National Weather Service via 146.940 MHz.
When Arkansas SKYWARN is not activated by the National Weather Service, this feed will carry The Weather Watch Net, which chronicles the less severe weather as it makes its way across the state. Events include garden variety thunderstorms, flooding, snow and ice storms, and other natural phenomena during which Amateur Radio operators will typically report information. Oftentimes The Weather Watch Net will immediately precede an Arkansas SKYWARN Net as weather conditions warrant.
The goal of this feed to to provide high quality audio to members of the general public that are not Amateur Radio operators, but would like to listen to the information being transmitted between certified storm spotters in the field and operators stationed at the National Weather Service.
