Benton County public safety on the SARA Network

This is all the Benton County traffic as heard from neighboring Linn County.  I realized that Benton is not offering a feed, so this is better than nothing.  Sorry, this Notes section is kinda thrown together.  I will spend some time cleaning things up later.

This is coming from the SARA radio network.

All Talkgroups that are coming into Linn will be included, except for public works, and others prohibted by terms.

LOG:

3/23/2025: Some of these updates were on Facebook for the Linn County Scanner Feed, not here.  I had a computer crash, computer running the scanner became completely useless.  Think it's a motherboard issue related to USB.  I switched to a backup computer after being down for a little bit.  A listener saw my message and graciously donated an i7 laptop.  Laptop is now running Mint Linux.  I went with Mint because Ubuntu was giving me the xwayland memory leak.  So this is xwin based, and now xwin is what is showing the memory leak.  Maybe it's actually NoMachine, the tool that I use to remote login?  For now, my work around is a reboot at 4:05am every day.  Feed will go down for roughly 1 minute or less for reboot.  Not ideal, will look into later.

3/12/2025 06:47: There's a memory leak on my computer, I think when I remote log in and change the display size it leaks memory.  Xwayland.  Ugh.  Had to reboot because it was taking 8GB RAM.  Will keep an eye on.

3/6/2025 17:15: Removed amplifier, feed is now perfect!  Knock on wood.

3/6/2025: Been up for a couple of days, but yesterday the audio started to get garbled.  When investigating, pulled the radios too many times and locked up the system, then the computer wouldn't boot, so some unexpected down time.  We're back up, but audio is still a little garbled/calls are being dropped.  I will go out on the roof when things melt and try to investigate.  Current theories are that either water got somewhere it shouldn't, or the neighbor got some new electronics.  A lot more listeners to this feed than I anticipated!!!  Thanks for listening!

I took out Law 3D because 2D is the only one that covers Benton.  On the Linn County feed I kept 3D as it's dispatched out of Cedar Rapids, so I felt maybe it's interesting for people.

Check out Broadcastify's calls platform.  It's really pretty cool.  You can add and remove talkgroups so you have your own custom feed.  You have to be a premium subscriber to get it, but I think it's worth it.  Note:  I don't get any reimbursement whatsoever for being a feed provider.  This is all on my own dime.
