Listening to the 800Mhz WyoLInk site on Casper Mnt, Currently we feed a few of Fire and EMS talk groups. But, there are limits to what we can do. See the Notes for details.

This feed provides audio from the Natrona County WY Fire and EMS talkgroups on the WyoLink statewide trunked radio system. It exists to replace the feed that was hosted at Casper Fire Dept (CFD) station 6 by CFD. Sadly, the station 6 feed 'went away' when the new station 6 was built and commisioned.

This feed is not sponsored by, nor affiliated with the City of Casper, Natrona County or Casper Fire Dept in any way. It is provided on a voluntary basis.

The old CFD St. 6 radio was a subscriber on the WyoCom system. As such, it could select what talkgroups it would feed. This new receiver isn't so capable as it isn't and can't be a subscriber. It will feed "allowed" talk groups and even then, only if they happen to be transmitted by the site AND are within the RF bandwidth of the receiver. Lots to get right just to hear anything at all.

These are the currently Allowed TGs:

13148 - Fire Disp 1
13149 - Fire Disp 2
13185 - NC Fire
13123 - CSR Mnt Fire
13209 - NCSO
13101 - WMC
13242 - Wyo Med
19875 - WHP-BMF Disp 1
19876 - WHP-BMF Disp 2
13150 - Fire Tac 4
13151 - Fire Tac 5
13152 - Fire Tac 6
13153 - Fire Tac 7
13154 - Fire Tac 8
13155 - Fire Tac 9
13224 - Fire Tac 10
13225 - Fire Tac 11
13226 - Fire Tac 12
13227 - Fire Tac 13
13228 - Fire Tac 14
13229 - Fire Tac 15

We'll see if or how long these last. I've not ever heard more than 2 used a time, so shouldn't be much more of a load.

And yes! I'll entertain requests for particular talk grops to be added or removed. Just use the contact form for the feed. You can find a list of the WyoLink talkgroups here: https://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=3939  Just remember, there must be a subscriber (portable, mobile or base) registered to the 800Mhz site for us to hear that traffic. Won't make much sense to ask for a Rock Springs talk group as they not only do not use this 800Mhz site, they don't even have 800Mhz radios. No subscribers registerd, no traffic transmitted by the site. Cheyenne and Gillette both have 800mhz subscribers and can 'drag' traffic to the Casper site if they're traveling within range of the Casper site. Generally considered a bad idea and poor form. The receiver here is listening to the 800Mhz site on Casper Mnt. I chose that site as it's most likely to have local subscriber units registerd. Having a subscriber registered into the site for a particular talk group is how the site 'knows' to transmit the audio for that tralk group. Only way we'll get to hear it is if there's a system subscriber registered to the site AND it's selected (or listening) to a talk group we've allowed. As WY Highway Patrol uses mostly the VHF sites and not the 800Mhz site we're not likely to hear them very often - but just in case, they're included. Could be handy in Winter. Also, the DOT traffic isn't included, currently, but may be added for the Winter driving season. The reciever used here is dedicated to this feed and is using a rather low gain antenna. As the signal from the 800Mhz site is plenty strong, all a higher gain antenna would do is just contribute to noise issues.

Don't bother asking for encrypted talk groups to be added to the feed. Anyting listed with mode 'DE' is encrypted. Simply discussing how to decrypt is a good way to get a visit by 'The Man'. Actually attempting - succesful or not - to decrypt those TGs carries even stiffer penalties. Don't ask - we do not do such things and instead will point, laugh and riddicule your poor reading comprension skills.

Enjoy! Be safe and thanks for listening!
