Anne Arundel Fire Department Information

Public Safety Core Group Vision

The vision is that Anne Arundel County will be the safest large jurisdiction in Maryland; that the citizens will be protected from criminals, fires, medical emergencies and disasters of all types, both natural and man-made; that the citizens will be supported if they are victims of crime, emergencies or disasters; and that the Anne Arundel County Fire Department (AACFD) will assist other jurisdictions in their efforts to improve public safety.

Working Incidents/Feed Alert/Status Updates

Talkgroups are used quite frequently, so all talkgroups will remain in scan mode, even during regularly dispatched incidents. The only exception is when there is a major incident (e.g. multi-alarm fire), in which a status update will be posted and the talkgroup may be locked on for the duration of the incident.

Abbreviations will be used during status updates to provide as much information as possible with limited characters. The following list will be commonly used abbreviations in status updates.

*NEW* PulsePoint - Empower Everyday Citizens - Now Available for Anne Arundel County! *NEW*

  • PulsePoint Respond is a mobile app that alerts CPR-trained citizens to someone nearby having a sudden cardiac arrest, which is activated by the local public safety communications center simultaneous with the dispatch of local fire and EMS resources.
  • In addition to the life-saving CPR/AED functionality, the app provides a virtual window into fire and EMS activity in the community, offering a unique opportunity for civic engagement.
