5/24/2023: To address the ongoing audio quality issues, especially during times of high radio traffic and system utilization, a new server will be installed this Sunday and Monday (May 28-29). The new server (Intel Core i7-based) is orders of magnatude more powerful than the existing server (Raspberry Pi 4).

12/26/2022: Reconfigured receiver server to address the ongoing audio quality issues over the past six weeks.

2/23/2022 6-11pm: Additional configuration occurring on new SDR receivers and software stack, reverting to old Uniden scanner during this update window. We also set up a new Discord server - stop by and say hello.

1/21/2022: Major system upgrade --- All transmissions are now received via two SDR receivers and are recorded simultaneously, then replayed in the order received. During periods of high activity, there may be a delay as radio traffic is queued for playback. The timestamp for each transmission along with the talkgroup ID tag is in the feed alphatag.

9/2/2020: There is now an experimental feed of all unencrypted Monroe/Ontario County talkgroups, including City of Rochester Police at https://www.broadcastify.com/calls/node/193 and at http://scanner.websterweather.com (press "live feed" button to start the scanner)

Technical Specs

Hardware: Dedicated Quad-Core Intel Xeon (E3-1226) at 3.3GHz with software defined radio (SDR) receivers located in the Village of Webster.

Software: Trunk-Recorder, LiquidSoap and a custom stack of middleware and scripts for audio processing.

All server and network hardware are powered through a dual power backup systems (UPS/battery and natural gas generator) for indefinate runtime during long-duration power disruption. Internet connection is redundant with cellular-based automatic failover.
